One for the adults.

Open University are offering hundreds of free mini courses. All take around 6-24 hours to complete and you do achieve a statement of participation at the end. These are a great way for people to build on their CV’s during lockdown.

The courses are individual samples and modules from full courses which they run, and are a great thing to do for anyone with a little extra time just now!

Rainbow Certificates

Here is a lovely certificate to give your child/children at this time as a little moral boost and to congratulate them for all they are doing and achieving even in the current circumstances.

Ordnance Survey (with other outdoor and activity organisations) have created a Hub for activities and information to do at home. It’s a fairly definitive resource and worth a look!

Music at Home

Weekly activities, ideas and resources for continuing music learning from home – for all ages and stages of education

Music is a great means of encouraging creativity in children and young people. It allows them to express emotions and have the confidence to experiment with their own musical ideas and sounds.

We are committed to bringing all children a range of activities that can be done at home to enable musical learning to continue through the next few weeks and months that we're all at home.

We have picked a range of musical activities and will publish these every Monday during term time.Music-at-home-web

Augmented Reality Animals in your own home!

Google’s AR objects in search are incredibly easy to access. The objects are added to search in the belief that the easiest way to learn about something is to see it. By seeing things in augmented reality (AR), users can see the scale of an object and also details they might not notice from just a simple picture.

To keep this easy to access, Google puts its 3D animals and other AR objects right at the top of search. For example, searching for “tiger” will show a Google Search Knowledge Panel. These panels are often shown for movies, famous celebrities, and other subjects. In the case of a 3D animal through Google, you’ll see an overview of what the animal is, a few images or it, and a section which says “Meet a life-sized tiger up close” and a “View in 3D” button. That button launches the AR experience.

Pete McKee's Cartoon Workshop for Beginners!

Pete McKee is a well known artist from Sheffield and...

"Pete will be posting cartoon workshop lessons every Wednesday starting tomorrow, for the next few weeks. As he has done similar workshops before, which have always been well-received, we thought this would be a nice way to offer children, and adults too, something fun and creative to help break up the day, keeping young minds active in addition to their school work. Anyone can take part in these videos which will be uploaded to the Pete McKee YouTube channel. All you’ll need is a few pieces of paper, or whatever’s lying around, card, scrap paper etc., and some pencils or pens. The videos will be posted at 12pm tomorrow for whoever is interested!"
